Re: Game of Thrones [Req.Social Advantages]
You seem to have missed the second half of my post. Your argument that these things are jobs doesn't matter. It doesn't matter if something is a Job or not, you still pay for those advantages. Since this whole thread is about what advantages people would have, saying something is a Job or not doesn't matter, especially since you seem to agree that you need to pay for all advantages a job provides (and no, that wasn't at all clear from your posts, since there was absolutely no point to any of them if you did agree with that).

I think creating a jobs table, one that includes advantages and skills needed for various jobs, is very useful. Titles lined to jobs could also be displayed on thise table. Last edited by combatmedic; 06-26-2011 at 07:38 AM. |

Re: Game of Thrones [Req.Social Advantages]
So, guys, ignoring the haters, I suggest we create:
Tables of Status for Westeros (We've seen a few stabs at this already) Rank tables for organizations that need it (Night's Watch, the Faith, Maesters maybe?) A jobs table (which includes requisite skills and advantages) Last edited by combatmedic; 06-26-2011 at 07:39 AM. |

I suppose we could hold out. I don't know that anyone is in a rush to actually run a Westeros based game. Still, I'm of the mind that all you really need to run a game set in Westeros is the Basic Set. |

Re: Game of Thrones [Req.Social Advantages]
I don't think I can say more, but modeling social structures was a big part of SE. Now, you don't NEED it, it just makes some parts easier to understand, provides advice, and adds some more crunch.

I find many attempts by actual scholars to model contemporary and historical social structures to be greatly deficient or deeply flawed. I'm rather dubious about very complex systems to model social structures in the context of an RPG. Still, I'll check out Social Engnineering when it comes out. |

Maesters have rank within the Citadel, it doesn't seem like the length of the chain matters as much elsewhere. Doesn't Social Engineering supposedly have rules for this kind of advantage?
