Default ramp jumps (or other stunts)

This might be a silly question, so apologies in advance . . .

Are there any provisions in the rules, in whichever edition, for jumping a ramp?

The reason I ask, is, I had an idea for a specific arena layout, wherein the racetrack was mostly a figure-eight, but with a ramp (to be jumped) as the cross-over. That is, traffic going from south-east to north-west goes on the "ground level," but traffic crossing over from south-west to north-east has to jump a ramp.

Is this legal, in any edition of rules-as-written (RAW)? Just wondering.

Thanks,
Franklin

There are no jump or 3d rules in the current edition of the game.

However, in the words of the late, great, Freddie Mercury: "Well, we're trying, dear." :)

Yes, there are rules in the Compendium 2.5 for Falling and Jumping.

Probably should post in the "Old Editions" forum however.

Please no. I know where the desire comes from but I was around back in the day and jump jets, rocket boosters and Hammer Downs was the beginning of the end for Car Wars.

Stay 2D, please.

@kbs666 — I want to hug you for saying that.

We also know why folks want it, but injecting a long daisy chain of if-then statements and conditional damage resolution quickly turns "vroom vroom pew pew" into "vroom rules more-rules house-rules quit."

Well, *I'm* not involved, personally; but the Discord discussion... well, "that is the sound of Inevitability, Mr. Anderson." >;)

I agree: The Jumping and Falling rules, and Rocket Boosters, were a Mongolian Cluster-Dance of Biblical proportions; the only people I ever saw using them were the same gang of [insert epithet of choice here] who wrote the bloody things. Heck, NOVA's racing rules included a "no temporary speed boosts" rule explicitly so we didn't have to fiddle with Rocket Boosters; and in my files, I have a much simpler (and in some aspects, more realistic!) jump/fall ruleset. So I can understand why some might desire 6E to remain 2D. But this is CW, and those 3D minis are going to Encourage People.... :)

@fwcain
In the setup you described, why not just have the figure-8 crossover be an exciting collision gamble?

Actually, what you describe was version 1.0 of my idea. But I figured, with all the debris piling up, after a while, the "race" would bog down, and NO ONE would ever actually complete the required number of laps. (At least, not until they killed off everyone else and the sole survivor who can still move resumes "racing"...But once all the bullets stop flying, where's the fun in that?)

Magic cleanup crews vanish the wrecks and replace them with wreckage hazard cards.
