I do not really recall anything about the book but those aliens stood out. They rolled rather then walked or floated.
I may be wrong, but I think it was in the first book of the Cluster Saga, by Piers Anthony. He described several very unusual aliens - there was one that looked like a water drop and moved over a bone "ball", using its downside muscles and skin lubricants.

Another was a living jet plane, and others even more weird.

Oh, and don't forget the alien creation rules from GURPS Uplift (for GURPS 3rd Ed.), I always liked that.

Piers Anthony sounds about right. I read the article but no mention of the races and I know I read at least one of those books based on the synopis.

IIRC its cheap on e23.

Yeah, its 3e, but easily converted.
Requires more of a re-write than a conversion, because GURPS Aliens wasn't really 3e (I don't recall if it was 2e or extremely early 3e, but pretty much every single template has significant errata for 3e; and 4e does psionics very differently, requiring even further changes to make them 4e compatiable).

Yup, though I would probably do some of the psionic races a bit differently if I were to redo the conversion today. Still, it's a good place to start if you're looking to use GURPS Aliens in 4e.

Top notch work, mate. I've already put together 3 or 4 races, and they feel unique and interesting.

Input is appreciated.

It is pretty nice, but what could possibly have motivated you to quote that whole thing?

Langy asked Faolyn to in response to Faolyn's offer to do so.

I didn't? The whole thing is 3 posts in total length. All I did was quote the first part of their post. In retrospect, you are probably correct. it was nearly 4 am, and I'd just come off a creation bender using the tables, so I was a bit wonky headed and tired. The tables actually spurred me to break out my copy of space and generate a few extra things on their alien tables.

No worries, mate. :) I'm really digging the generator. I went crazy and cranked out like 13 aliens, and rolled up two trait blocks from Space before I finally fell asleep in front of the laptop. XD
