Alas, since the Impudite Princess of Cute far post-dates IOU, it's rather off the mark.

I would love to see IOU updated to an expanded full color book. IOU has always been one of my most successful convention games I have ever ran.

I wonder what Swomi Tift is doing these days? what is GURPS' favorite scatter-brained genius up to?

One of the funnest games I ever had at a con was a GFURPS IOU game with Elizabeth McCoy GMing and Johnathan Linder III as my PC. Aside from my use of a bound wad of $50 bills as a psycholigical torture device, my favorite moment was when we found ourselves in the Bubblegum Crisis universe and I ended I saying "I... own... GENOM?!?" (which is the anime-fan equivalent of discovering you are going to grow up to be Lex Luthor).

*cackle* I remember that! I wasn't running that one -- I was just hanging around. My spouse (and co-author), Walter Milliken, was the GM then.

Mmmm, that was a fun one. Didn't Boomer-Jeeves come by to pick you up?

Yes. And we ran into Washu-chan, although just what Washu-chan was doing there I really have no idea.

the setup, if I recall, was that the group was supposed to be the ArchDean's guests for lunch and then ended up roaming around time and space. I remember Swomi Tift going utterly ga-ga upon meeting Spock, and that one of the other PCs actually managed to find time to ***** Captain Kirk.

What excuse does Washuu-chan need to show up at IOU, though?

As I recall, you all eventually managed to get back before you left, and hid out in Jonathon's quickly-rented trailer-home-thing in the parking lot, and thus arrived quite on time for the lunch meeting.

And Swomi scored a tricorder off Spock.

She wasn't at IOU itself, she was in a lab in Megatokyo.

But Washuu-chan paying an occasional visit to the IOU campus would not be out of line. Or Ryoko, for that matter. In fact, I can even see Ryoko taking a temporary job at IOU as a PE instructor, constantly fighting with Ayeka who teaches Political Science.

"Oh, and Jeeves?"
"Yes. sir?"
"Don't tell me about this."
"Yes, sir."

But we didn't get our lunch with the ArchDean.

By the way did this game happen at Gencon perchance?

It did indeed happen at GenCon, as I recall.
