Compartmentalization effects?
Are there any official effects of compartmentalization on the Major Damage table, or has anyone come up with anything logical? I'd think that reducing crew/passenger damage and/or the amount of fuel lost would make the most sense. Thanks!

Re: Compartmentalization effects?
This is a variant I okayed around with some time ago:
3: Energy Bank Hit: Check Amount: result x 10% of stored power lost, if none treat as # 9 4: One Screen Hit: Check Amount: result is subtracted from affected Screen-Skill, MS loses result x 10% DR, ND loses result number of units, BG loses result number of factors, if no Screen treat as # 3 5: Jump Hit: Check Amount: result is subtracted from JNo, if zero treat as # 14 6: Cargo Hit: Check Amount: result x 10% lost, if none treat as # 13 7: 1d6: 1-3: one highest Complexity Computer disabled, 4-6: one highest Scan Sensor disabled 8: 1d6: 1-3: 1d6* Crew take 5d6 damage, 4-6: one Accessory system** disabled 9: One highest output power plant loses 50% output or sAccel and RoF are halved 10: 1d6 weapons disabled, if none 1d6: 1-2: treat as # 7, 3-4: treat as # 8, 5-6: treat as # 14 11: Fuel Hit: Check Amount: result x 10% of fuel or reaction mass lost, if none treat as # 10 12: Fuel Hit: Check Amount: result x 10% of fuel or reaction mass lost, if none treat as # 14 13: 1d6* Passengers take 4d6 damage, if none, treat as # 8 14: Maneuver Hit: Check Amount: subtract lesser of 50% and result, minimum 1, from sAccel, if zero treat as # 9 15: One Spacedock or Vehiclebay is disabled, if none treat as # 6 16: One highest Complexity Computer and one highest Scan Sensor disabled, if neither left treat as # 18 17: 1d6* Crew take 5d6 damage 18: One highest output power plant disabled Check Amount: 1d6, -1 for Heavy Compartmentalization, -2 for Total Compartmentalization, minimum result is 1 If multiple systems exist which can be damaged choose randomly *: SC: per 50, rounded up, personal DR protects **: Launch Tube or CG or Artificial Gravity or Fuel Processor or most powerful Com |

Re: Compartmentalization effects?
As it turns out, there's a JTAS article regarding redundancy with a suggested replacement table that gives some effects of compartmentalization.
