(IC) Lost In Dreams [Peter]

After reading up on Kal-Mor, Peter decides to spend the following night in the temple and tries to make arrangements.

That day he gets some materials and makes a Dream Catcher and if he can find the equivalent materials, makes a toothpick and cotton ball diorama of sheep lined up jumping a fence.

Peter asks the priests about animal sacrifice, and what the ritual demands of the body. His instinct is to not do such a thing, but he considers how many animals he's killed for a meal and thinks about if he's okay with such a sacrifice if he could eat it afterward. Weren't all animals they ate sacrifices in their way? Is this morally different? Are souls really real, and does that mean this kind of sacrifice makes something else happen to the soul? Peter wrestles with whether it's right or wrong...


He sleeps on it and decides agains it. When he wakes up, he takes a cloth and wipes the crusty sleep stuff out of the corner of his eyes. He plays with Goliath and does his training and exercise after breakfast before doing some more reading.


After the evening meal, Peter goes to the temple and places his diorama, the
dream-catcher and the cloth among the offerings in the courtyard, and then lights the incense and chants for several hours, going through the list of chants from his book several times before going to bed under the statue of Kal-Mor.

That night, Peter dreams of a starry night sky... above, below, and to his sides as well. But that star is actually a chunk of marble... as is that one over there. Many of the stars are large chunks of marble, looking like ancient temples... or more properly like the temple he's currently sleeping in.


Below him is a massive slap set up as an amphitheater and stage. On the stage are two identical bodies, and a portal. The portal leaks and blasts magical power at an incredible rate. The bodies each have a sigil on their chest. Peter recognizes the sigil: its that of Arn-Oda, the Sky God, and chief God. One body has its head fractured and a blood stain over its heart. The other is covered in cuts both large and small.

Peter sees no one else in this space.

Peter examines the vision as closely as he can, trying to remember all the details...

Do the bodies seem to be moving or breathing at all?

Peter concentrates on the dream and tries to take himself there!

((This may be an abstraction, but usually, his visions seem to be seeing real events... He's going to give it a shot! ))

The bodies don't seem to be moving or breathing. They are still.



Making a dreaming roll vs 12 ... failure


Peter is unable to wake up in the new location. He wakes up in the temple of Kal-Mor, Goliath at his side.

Peter wakes up on a cold stone floor. Goliath is near him. Opening his eyes, he sees he is in a dark hall with pillars and statues, maybe?. At one end, the hall opens outdoors. The ceiling is high, maybe 30 feet. The sky he can see outside of the door is filled with stars.



He can feel a draining, twisting, effect with his magic sense. There isn't much of it, but most of it is moving towards a point someplace to the left of the temple, and moving fast. It feels somewhat similar to the flow of magic out of the portal he saw near the two bodies.

Peter investigates the area. Are the bodies here? He will follow the flow of the draining magic and see where it leads him as he studies this place.

Once he takes a look around, he will head to the door and see what's outside. If he doesn't find anything to grab the focus of his attention, he will call out

"Is there anybody out there?"

There are no bodies in the room. There are several statues, several empty basins, some stone pillars, and a large stone throne. All of it is polished marble.



He needs to head out of the door to find the flow of magic, and then he sees the scene from his dream: he's behind the stage of the large amphitheater. He can see the portal on it, which is drawing all the magic, and the two bodies.

So is this, like the stars, a marble temple floating in space with no earth around it? Or does it seem to be on a planet?

Are there any burning torches or braisers or otherwise anything to burn? (The help of a Karana creation may be useful.)


"Can you BELIEVE THIS boy!" Peter exclaims, dazzled by the spectacle of "stars".


Peter checks the bodies for any signs of life, and if he finds any, he will administer first aid as best he can, tearing strips of their clothing for bandaging.

He examines them a bit more closely, looking for any differences, especially anything that may give a hint as to which one belongs here, and see what they are wearing or carrying.

If he can't determine which is the native by the bodies, he uses Tracking - 13 ((Rolled an 8, success by 5)) to try and determine which one came through the portal so he can send the corpse home. If he still can't figure out which is which, he will grab the one closer to the portal, drag them over and try and drop them through.

"I hope this is the right thing to do! Might need to balance things out to get this portal to close... if it works, we might have saved a world boy!"

If nothing happens, Peter will concentrate on the portal and visualize it closing and see if his knack for all things magical can help the process.

Succeed or fail, if nothing notable happens for a few minutes, He will strip Arn-Oda, and dress in his clothing and take his stuff, and goes and sits on the throne, and has Goliath hop up and share the seat.

"Whaddaya think boy? Very cool but not very comfy... "

He ponders for a few moments and goes over descriptive prose in his mind... this is going to make a great chapter for the book!

He gets a crazy idea and says in a loud and (deeper than usual) voice that echoes through the chamber...

"Um... We claim the throne and the mantle of Arn-Oda, the Sky God!"

Looking around, it seems to be a marble temple floating in an atmosphere filled space with no earth around it.

Are there any burning torches or braisers or otherwise anything to burn? (The help of a Karana creation may be useful.)

There is no fire. There are carved renditions of stone torches. there is no vegetation. The only thing you can see that might burn is the clothing of the two bodies, and possibly your hair.

Goliath sniffs the air and turns around a few times.



The bodies show no signs of life. They're identical, down to small freckles on their arms. They are wearing what look like simple togas (probably not actual togas, but it bears one shoulder and has a lot of flowing cloth) and high laced leather sandals.



Peter tries to close the portal by focusing on it. He feels its shape, and can feel the magic rushing out of it. The effect is astoundingly powerful. Peter isn't sure how to interact with the effect, and even if he was, isn't sure that he has the strength to effect it. He tries shaping it like karana smoke, but finds his energy reserve for such a task almost instants diminishes, absorbed by the portal.



He also sees a green field on the other side of the portal, and two guards on the portal. One is a man, one is a woman. They wear bronze armor, and carry a spear in one hand wear a glowing orb six inches across around each of their neck. They see Peter, and move into guard positions, and then gesture for him to come through the portal.
