Is there a way to apply a limited duration (and a cost modifier) to a continuous ability?
For instance having the ability of Altered Time Rate for one second. thanks. |

Maximum Duration (Powers, 111) and Reduced Duration (Psionic Powers, 21) cover what you want.

This is about the 5th time you've helped me with a reference
This board is awesome. Thanks. ON the otherhand it seems like every time I ask a question I have to buy another book. Haha! |

I shudder to think what GURPS would be as one single hardcover volume. Though it would give us a new topic to model on the forum: can a realistic human with Lifting skill and Extra Effort actually raise "The Compleat GURPS" over their head? (Anyone have a pagecount total?) |

Another option would be to use "Costs Fatigue" at the 10% level (Basic Set, p.111). If the power doesn't have a fatigue costs, recharge time, limited use, etc., it doesn't really matter if it only lasts for one second, because it can just be turned on again in the next second.

If you think GURPS is prodigious, you should remember what The Other System was like. :-) I think that, of the 27 banker boxes of RPG material I had, probably 18-21 of them were The Other System.

Good point, I forgot that. I checked and it's a full turn Ready action that doesn't require concentration. Aside from that, I realized that my approach wouldn't work to limit activation to one second, it would just require the fatigue cost to be paid every second.
