Re: How do you upgrade a tattoo computer?
Since when is it permanent? It's hardly more effort to remove an old tattoo computer and replace it with a new one (or something else) than it is to install the first one. I would expect upgrading tattoo computers to be similar to upgrading other sorts of electronics: mostly a matter of replacing it with a new and better model.

Can you cite where the general generic baseline includes expandability?

Re: How do you upgrade a tattoo computer?
My computer is running a little slow these days. Can someone direct me to where I can buy the Genius upgrade for it? Oh, and considering the state of the US electrical infrastructure's resistance to EMP, I want Hardened as well.
And which port do I plug those upgrades into? |

High end video card $500 UPS $200 Copper mesh $200 I charge $35/hr and you'll have to get the computer to me on your own dime. In short: That was a terrible example. I actually support the 'tattoo computers won't be upgraded, or built for upgrading' stance, but personal computers ARE built for exactly that. |

But none of the above allow retrofitting Complexity increases for the difference in price, and all of them cost more to make than an unexpandable system that does the same amount of computing at the same rate. The supernice video cards probably qualify for higher Complexity but that Complexity is not useful for all programs; that's part of the reason why very little software is written to take advantage of it. But I'm working on it, literally. |

Of course this means that the tattoo artist is as much of a ware artist as he is an inker, but that's sort of expected. |
