Discarding cards to power theif ability

Hi, I have 2 questions regarding what cards you can discard when using a thief's theft ability.

1. Can you discard an item enhancer from a item to theft?

2. If you discard a cheat card that has an item attached to theft, does the item on the cheat card go with it or do you get to keep it?

An item enhancer or cheat card is considered permanently attached to its item. If you discard the item, the cheat or enhancer goes with it. You cannot otherwise detach the enhancer/cheat from its card.
