Well, since the Wehrmacht had an OKH (Oberkommando des Heeres), there
seems to be a certain probability that the term Heer was used in WWII ... :)

Is there a German phrase "Gott Heer Der Fatherland" or am I imagining it?

I do not know that phrase, the closest one I remember is "Mit Gott für
König und Vaterland" ("With God for King and Fatherland").

However, the refrain of the German version of the Swiss national anthem
includes the phrase "Gott im hehren Vaterland" ("God in the high / exalted
Fatherland"), so perhaps this could be what you are thinking of.

Deutsches Heer is the name in the constitution of 1871 (art. 60).

Oh and the Heer is the FIRST force, everything else is secondary to it. Just like Infantry is the first within the ground forces. ;)
Of course you are right as to the order...

But I think "OKH" was a term in use at the time, not a post-war term, and of course H stands for...
