Because all my previous entries have ended up with unrelated magic items that hinge on misspelling, let's go with the Mask of Miss-Spelling for our next entry.

[Edit] Ninja'd again.

The Thread of Necromancy is a bilious purple strand spun from the hair of a corpse and treated with alchemically liquefied grave wax. Any dead flesh sewn together by this thread is treated as a single entity for all necromantic purposes. The infamous Mr. Frankenstein is widely credited as the inventor, but probably isn't.

This causes additional damage on top of the original spear attack (cr for being trampled, bleeding from being gored).

Also, gives a bonus on rolls to locate truffles.

Getting nthe continuity back on track, the Mask of Misspelling is a close-fitting velvet mask which fits closely around the user's head and face with holes for the eyes nose, and mouth. Any spell cast by or on the wearer is always a critical failure. The mask is unremovable by mundane means.

A medical bag that once belonged to a doctor who was caught intentionally infecting people in order to study diseases. With it, the user can curse a structure, and that structure will almost certainly become an outbreak site of some potentially lethal disease within one week. The disease itself will be completely mundane in its progression and spread once it appears, but the curse will create almost any contrivance to cause the initial infection.

Powerstones, Manastones and people's Energy Reserves are drained 1 point every minute in the same area. HP lost to the Iron Feather and mana don't restore until you leave the area of effect.

If left in place for a full day without dealing damage or draining items or people, the mana level decreases by 1. If the area reaches No Mana, the Iron Feather begins to affect the area around the NMZ. The new region affected is a ring outside the NMZ, with surface area equal to 5×5×pi square meters. The affected zone can theoretically grow to infinite size given enough time*, but any being or item drained halts the process for 24 hours. Removing the Iron Feather from the affected zone restores the mana level at the same speed as it was drained.

Some speculate that there is a limit to how big the area can become, and wonder if all No Mana Zones are centered around similar items. If the Iron Feather reaches its limit, its effects on magic items and beings may change, but nobody knows how.

The Hound Statuette of Artemis is an extremely dangerous and chaotic item actually created by the goddess Eris when she was in a particularly foul mood.

The item becomes imprinted with loyalty to a single owner until that person dies, whereupon it takes on a new imprint to the next owner.

Any time the owner is seen nude, large maddened hounds begin to emerge, one per second, from the statuette and attack anyone and everyone who has seen the owner exposed. The number of potential hounds is limited only by the time it takes them to ultimately kill all the qualified targets. The hounds will vanish when the targets are all dead.

The Wheel that Turneth Not is an enormous spoked wheel made of unknown metals and engraved with eldritch designs. It rises from a plain on a metal axle, on which it doesn't turn. The Wheel affects a circular area ten times its own radius: nothing that dies within that circle will ever be reincarnated. Nobody knows for sure what does happen to them, although most thaumatologists and theologians agree that they are trapped eternally within the wheel for unknown but probably evil purposes. A small sect of dissenters who believe the Wheel represents a shortcut to Nirvana live and die in its shadow.

While a minor melody is being played, the skull weeps blood red drops which evaporate into a fine mist. Anyone touched by the mist is struck by overwhelming sadness, and the harpist is not immune. Some have been driven to suicide by prolonged exposure. If someone dies within 24 hours of touching the mist, they rise as zombies.

While a major melody is being played, a blue light shines from the eye sockets of the skull. Undead beings in this light are immune to turning, and their wounds regenerate.

Dranethar was an extremely lazy wizard who had to be bullied and nagged into carrying his share of the party's gear and/or loot until he created the Burden. The Burden is a large haversack with straps on the outside to attach even more weight. The Burden also consists of five belts that grant the wearer Absolute Direction. They also grant the wearer the weight of the haversack, divided equally amongst those currently wearing one of the belts. The belts and bag were separate long ago, and most owners of the bag think that it's weightless.
