Well, I'm seeing a trend, but the poll remains open for another day or two to make sure.

Another 'two questions in separate formats' one, which I probably should have asked earlier:
Stargate Command Question VIII What level of Security Clearance (link because the discission there might be useful) should members of the Stargate teams have? 1. 5 points - they just need clearance for this one project. 2. 10 points - the project covers the 'gate, alien worlds and the aliens that live on them, more alien technology, and the 'psionics' (magic) that they're also studying, and the teams need to know about all of it (both 'to be able to do the job,' and 'because they can't avoid knowing'). 3. 15 points - it's a Sci Fi Spy Show, so they just have superhero-esque 'clearance for nearly anything.' 4. Something else (please specify). Please remember to include the number of your preferred option when you vote. Second question: If the vote goes for 5 points or 10 points, should team leaders have security clearances one level higher than the other agents? Please answer 'YES' in allcaps or 'NO' in allcaps. ******* Answer: The first question has two votes for 2, which wins, and one vote each for 1, 3, and three different versions of 4. The second question is easy, NO gets six votes and YES got none.

4) Zip. If you're in the campaign, you know about it. Characters who don't aren't PCs and their CP value is moot.
NO on the TL question |

It really depends on how much Homeworld stuff they are doing.
If regularly reporting to home agencies, are they able to speak freely with them or is there a bureaucratic ******* contest going on that they have to know who the should talk to, but also, regardless of security clearances, who they can't afford not to talk to. If yes on this; 1, NO. If all, or mostly, off world, then none needed.

4) While some civilian experts have Security Clearance - typically at the [5] level, although there may be a few exceptional individuals with [10] - the bulk of individuals in the SGC have formal Rank within it, which provides them the relevant access to information (as the AotW thread notes, those of appropriate Rank don't need Security Clearance to have the knowledge necessary to do their jobs). This often matches their Rank in their parent organization (mechanically, take the two as Alternate Abilities), but not always - aliens like G'annan, and civilian experts like our Daniel Jackson expy (if we have one) who join an SG Team have an SGC Rank divorced entirely from any other Rank they may hold (such as G'annan's Rank in the Frolechi military), and there are some rare exceptions of people with SGC Rank that doesn't quite match what they have with their parent organization. As no SC is involved, the Team Leader question is largely-irrelevant (but note if the Team Leader has higher Rank they will likely have more access to secrets); if 1 or 2 wind up winning, I'll still go with NO.
Note this is a departure from the way it worked in the show, where Daniel Jackson would probably have Security Clearance, as he remained a civilian and lacked any formal Rank (there's an episode where a hostile official promises to have Daniel court-martialed for disobeying a direct order; I believe it's General Hammond who wryly comments that's not an option, as Dr Jackson is a civilian). While the SGC of our setting may have civilian experts who lack a formal Rank within the SGC, I'm suggesting this won't be the case for SG Teams, who need a clear command hierarchy (or at least their higher-ups insist they have such, even when they incorporate aliens and civilian experts).

This is run by five eyes. I figure we should have some security clearance.
2, NO. Its useful to give them more clearance than strictly necessary, and its useful to be able to keep secrets. And keeping all the PC's at the same knowledge level helps not split the party. Alternatively: 4) Most PC's have a [10] clearance for their current line of work, and for some other secret project their supposed to continue to keep secret. Off-world PC's or some very select civilian contractors might have the [5]. And Still NO.

3, and NO. Stargate personel are likely to run into all sorts of shenanigans, so a blanket "you need to know this stuff" just makes things easier.

Well, the second question is easy, NO gets five votes and YES got none.
The first question has one vote each for 1, 2, and 3, and three different versions of 4, unless I'm missing something. Poll remains open for I guess another day or two to see if anyone else will vote, or wants to change their vote, after which either the tie should be broken or I'll figure out how to vote and break the tie myself.

2 and NO. I might argue that they should be charged no points for this, since it's baked into the premise and their jobs, but it's useful for people on the SG teams to be kept apprised of everything going on "out there" and with the other teams (just so the Unknown is less likely to bite them), while what's going on at home is going to be compartmentalized like in any other bureaucracy.

So, I'm blanking on what the next Question should focus on (unless I get unexpectedly more done on the sample characters soon). If anyone has suggestions, please post them.
