GCA5 No Fine Weapon Modifier for Spears

GCA5 does not include the "fine" or "Very Fine" modifier for spears. I am wondering if this is an error in the program or am I missing something in the rules.

The modifier for Fine is called 'Weapon Quality: Fine' in GURPS Basic Set 4th Ed.--Characters.gdf.
There is no Very Fine modifier for spears in the file because the Basic Set limits that quality to swords and fencing weapons.

GURPS Low-Tech 4e.gdf has 'Low-Tech Weapon Quality: Very Fine' that applies to spears.

I am using the DFRPG data file. I saw the Fine modifier for other weapons but none of the spears.

OK, so apparently a whole number of weapons in Dungeon Fantasy RPG.gdf have 'Impaling Class Quality' in their mod tags. Problem is this category does not exist in the data file.

It is called 'Crushing/Imp Class Quality' instead.

So you can either change it in the gdf or you can go into Advanced Edit and add 'Crushing/Imp Class Quality' to the mods column to get the Fine modifier working for spears et al.

Very Fine is limited to swords and fencing weapons, see Adventurers, p. 106.

Thanks for bringing up the issue in the DFRPG file.

And thank you, Imion, for seeing that the issue was the modifier group names.

Likewise, all the Crushing Class Quality references would be wrong.

I'm updating the file to include the two groups that are referenced (Crushing Class Quality and Impaling Class Quality) and removing the one that is not.

That should allow all existing characters to work as-is once the new file is loaded.

The updated file is available now through Check for Updates.
