I've made enough typos that i'm going to try and sail past "Psychical Ed" but the little narrow rowboats are "sculls" and the verb "sculling" though the simple Rowing might be more likely.

If he's actually involved in Psychical Education with real skulls he must have been at Miskatonic. :)

Auto correct was on before, so I'm surprised more of my posts are nonsensical.

You might want to check out civilian bolt action rifles -- the Winchester Model 54 and Remington Model 70 (the latter the "sporterized" version of the Remington Model of 1917.)
Depending on where he was born/grew up he would probably have some familiarity with lever action rifles (the Winchester '92 or '94) and shotguns (Winchester Model 1897 or 1912) or a Remington Model 11.)

A lot of kids who grew up rural-area-adjacent had experience with .22 rifles -- single-shot or pump -- for squirrel hunting, plinking, or vandalism. Remember the USA in the '30s was only about 40% as densely populated as now -- even in Massachusetts or Connecticut there were then many farms or woods that are condos and minimalls now.

Small City Boy, Father is White Collar, Mum was a Nurse before she went full House Wife, because of the Depression she went back to being a Midwife once the last of the kids where in Junior High. his first pistol was his fathers Colt M1917 revolver he brought back from France first long arm was a .22 Air Rifle. the ROTC showed him how to shoot properly and he punctured his own surplus M1917, Before the Invasion he wasn't a big gun guy. as he has found out Armorplast and Durasteel armored shirts (DR 11 & 15 respectively) makes .45acp not worth spit, hence why he has gone over to a Ray Gun even though he is using it at default.

Well I've got a bunch of CP and nowhere to spend it, we have extra rules on spending CP. If you don't do something major with the skill you have to lots with it in game, or you have to wait till there is down time and then do some study and/or training.

Well it's only bean a couple of game days so no down time and we haven't bean consistently using any skills over and over, we have bean doing lots of stuff but not the same thing more than a couple of times each.

if this was one of the old Serials the Chapter list would read
"Prologue"
"The Mysterious Invasion"
"Dan Powers Vs. the Von Invaders"
"Lieutenant Dan Powers and the X-5"

No offense, but he seems a bit bland. He needs a defining gimmick of some kind.

So chilling and watching Aviation videos, the X-5 Rocket Plane he spent most of the prequels crashing looks a hell of a lot like the XP/YP-37 just move the cockpit back forward at-least oft the fuselage. depending on the test variant the wings can be strait for endurance models or swept for Speed modelsthere are budges on the lower half of the fuselage trailing the wing where the duel liquid fueled rocket motets are placed.

the Working mock up for the Army submission flown in Chapter 1
"The Mysterious Invasion" was the X-5-23 armed with 6X M1010 .30 Machine Guns (three per wing) and twin nose mounted 6X 1&1/2 inch rocket pods (Proprietary, High Explosive).

Dan was able to land the X-5-23 with only a damaged (but didn't fail) nose landing gear.
