And, oh, the gun I saw was a Mp3008. Which according to WWII;IC costs 25$. Still 150% more than the Sten, but cheaper than everything else, including the M3 grease gun(45$), and the PPS-43(50$), the cheap US and soviet SMGs.

The guy in the shop asked 440 $ for the gun, a mere 60$ more than the stens. Probably had no idea what he had. Unfortunaly, I was broke...If it's still there when I get paid I'll buy it, and sell it on Ebay or somesuch ;)

Eh, who cares? Bad German is entirely in-genre... ;-)

I'm not a recently discharged tanker, but I was a tanker.

I was there for (literally) the last days of the M-60A3 and the first days of the M-1A1.

I'll command the Panther. I know just the guys to be gunner and loader.

The interleavened road wheels are a pain for servicing and would get stuck when mud froze to them. But the extra mobility and smooth terrain crossing were considered to outweigh this disadvantage.

Improvements in fire-control killed the concept better than anything else, when you can fire on the move with the old Christie suspension, you don't need a smoother ride!

Remember, that the Panther was designed as an ANSWER to the T-34. It was intended to meet it in combat and win. The US uses the same philosophy about gunnery that the Germans used, shoot first. The 75mm on the Panther had longer range than any of the T-34 guns. And under most conditions, the 75mm penetrated better than the feared 88mm in the Tiger I.

And if you get the old T-34 with the short gun, I can take the hits IF you DO get into range.
