Fantasy Misc Equipment Tables: Where d'I get my stuff?
This problem struck me one day, I was writing up a Job Template for a specialised kind of spell caster, one that would a need special kind of book and I actually wanted the spellcaster to use some of his starting money to get said book. So I scanned the Characters misc equipment section to see if a book were listed and no. So then I flipped all over Fantasy to try and find one again I returned empty handed. I'm not one to give up so then I decided to write up an Innate Attack to mimic a shortsword, because I knew how to write up the book itself as an Advantage so now I was looking for a way to say [X]=$Y and this yielded a value that was ridiculously low. Next idea, find out $/point on Independant Income this actullay yeilded a price so rediculously high that only Filthy Rich could afford, without Signature Gear of course and niether of those actually fit the feel of what I was going for. So I ended up doing something that ended up highly confusing one of my players when he showed for a session we are running until my fantasy world is completed. This being I compared the cost of a two-man tent in D&D20 (my nickname for the Wizard's Incarnation of D&D) to that of a two man tent in GURPS 4ed. and then converting over their cost for a spell book.
Just so people know my GURPS booklist currently consists of The Basic Set and Fantasy for fourth edition and both Discworld books and Celtic Myth for Third. I somehow feel that what I did was in poor taste, but I'm just wondering if one of my GMing resposibilities with GURPS is to generate full tables of things I find the ones I have are in wanting. I mean now after a little study I have seen online a site that has rules for book costs (oddly enough my Generation through exstraction yeild fairly close figures to those on that site), but next time it may not be a book I'm after. Any advice?

Try http://www.buffnet.net/~hal/index.htm There are some prices to be found on other items than found in GURPS equipment lists, as well as rules for farming - minor stuff like that ;)

You just don't want to know how much his Dominatrixes make per week to be able to afford those. |

Re: Fantasy Misc Equipment Tables: Where d'I get my stuff?
For a moment I was worried stiff that I had indeed screwed up badly. When I went to my webpage itself, I noted that it was not the riding whip that cost that much, but the gold spurs. I'm not sure why the other webpage url has the information as it does! :)
::calm down, take the happy pills, no, not the blue ones, the red ones... or is it the other way around?:: ***edit*** I wonder why at the temp.sosacek.org/table.png, the column data got shifted down one so that the spurs data shows up one line lower (ie at the whip entry) and the last entry in the column doesn't even align with anything at all? When viewed with internet explorer at my website, it lines up as it should. Anyone got an idea of how I can make this work better? Is this an issue with other web browsers? Anyone? Drop me an email if this is so. Thanks. Last edited by hal; 08-12-2005 at 04:28 AM. |

Man, that's kinky. BTW, I think the Firefox users are starting to outweigh the Explorer users, at least on this forum. |

I use Irider (www.irider.com). IRider itself uses IE underneath it but the functionality IRider adds is phenominal. Of course, it's not free but it is well worth every penny I paid.

I can't get to either of those links at the moment, I'm afraid... (I'm using firefox, if that's relevant at all).
