Peter fumbles badly with a fake story, and calls Luisa Crazy. He finally tells her the real story, but she is no longer prepared to believe anything they say and feels unsafe and so abandons them in the jungle with a 400 mile journey back to their team. This leads to quite a bit more walking... Peter and Kumar stop and help villages along their way with what medicine they were able to carry. Peter dreams of Luisa reporting them, and dreams of the army attacking villages. Peter sees nothing that can be done, and does not report his dreams to Kumar. They come across a village that is in the midst of an attack and care for a young girl they find until the hostiles pass, then reunite the child with her village once the danger has passed. After another week, they make it to camp and are taken into custody. while being held, a woman identifying herself as Olivia Kohar sneaks Peter out to be taken to another camp where they inform him he is being arrested for conspiracy, and would read him his rights, except that they don't apply here. Peter tries to run and is shot with a tranquilizer dart. When he awakens they again ask him for his story and ask for him to give them dirt on Kumar as they are turning him over to the "ICOPs". Peter tells them if they need to turn someone in, to turn him in, as Kumar was just trying to help him. Peter frustrates them, but in the end passes their tests and they may be prepared to trust him, but that night Peter dreams... Last edited by the_matrix_walker; 02-13-2024 at 08:42 PM. |

When Anil asks how Peter is able to accomplish these things, he confides in him the truth of his origin and travels. They try to create a Karana creature there, but it has a mind of it's own and becomes a snarling demon. The boys escape back to camp and elect to have Anil learn how to make Karana himself as the bloodline may be a factor, return with a few men, Sojala and Ravneet to assist them. Upon their return there are more demons who had formed, and they lead off some and distract other of the demons until they can set off a gunpowder flash budle for quick smoke for Anil to manipulate. His bloodline is not enough to command this place. Sojala kills one, but is wounded and they are forced to flee under vicious attack. Peter is able to capture smoke from it's death and the smoke from the circle proves more potent than expected.

Re: (OOC) The Scout's Guide to the Multiverse ☺
The expedition heads to Karaka the next day and draw out and destroy the demons one by one. Peter notices that Mr. Pundell's men aren't putting their weapons away as they move behind the men of the command post. Peter alerts Anil who comments to keep their guard up and making Pudell realize he would not get the benefit of surprise if he attacked them. While Stanway seems to recognize what was happening, Colonel Holland was oblivious.
They give the Jade frog to Avinash, to have a neutral expert create the Karana here, and it works forming 2 intelligent and obedient servitors. They seem to have a memory that predates their current conjuring and voice a preference for death by combat to execution. The 'demon' informs them when it is instructed to accept it's execution as a test of the Karana's loyalty. They attempt to pass the Jad frog to Pundell to summon a karana creature of his own, but the existing demon became crazed and attacked when the idol changed hands. Mr Pundell's group pulls guns and offers to buy out the others under threat of violence. When Pundell throws brush on the embers of the fire to create more demons, Peter uses his own magic to create demons separate from the idol's influence, creating a the distraction they needed for the rest of the expedition to regain the upper hand. Mr Pundell escapes into the jungle, and Peter initially allows him to escape so that he can tend to Col. Holland's gunshot wound. Later he and Goliath track Pundell down with a group from the expedition and demand his surrender. When he tries to escape, Peter shoots the man in the leg and they take him into custody. And he would have gotten away with it too, if it hadn't been for that damn kid and his dog! Last edited by the_matrix_walker; 02-11-2024 at 11:16 AM. |

Re: (OOC) The Scout's Guide to the Multiverse ☺
Karana
Karana, the art of smoke pulling, is a practice where certain advantaged individuals are able to pour mana into smoke allowing them to reshape it and form it into solid objects or creatures. The creatures formed have a rudimentary animal intelligence, and behave according to their programming. A Karana user can issue orders mentally, or take control of the creature directly. They may also displace their senses to those of the creation (to a range of up to 20 yards), which may include enhanced sensory perception (An acute discriminatory sense of smell on a Karana dog for example). Prerequisite Advantages:
First, Make a ritual Magic, Karana roll to control the flow of smoke. This is followed by a Physiology, Karana roll to shape the smoke into a finished creation. The process takes 2 seconds for a creation of 2 pounds, and 2 additional seconds for each doubling of the creation's mass. Unusually thin or thick smoke can vary this rate. A 20 pound creation requires a minimum of 2 Energy to manipulate. It is possible to form a creation without investing Energy with a skill roll at -4, and such creations behave as though created with 1 energy. Any amount of energy can be devoted to a Karana creation and will determine it's duration (provided it remains undamaged), Creations remain for 5 minutes per point of energy devoted. A damaged creation will "bleed" smoke and disperse much more quickly and lose 1 ER per minute per point of damage. Post Notes
