Halcyone starts reading the inscription underneath the statue on the near beach... and reads it... and reads it... She just sitting there reading it.

The lake is about 7 yards deep at the deepest. There is a giant tentacled thing living in the lake, between you and the island. There are also three bladed arm beasts in the water near the far beach. These look like a creature Vassarious has imitated before, back when you were defending the emperor from demons. Various eggs are scattered on the lake.

The lake has an underwater tunnel leading in from near the far beach. You also spot a tunnel with a stream running down it coming from near the second beach to the left. There is an underwater portal at the base of the island.

The Island has a boat parked at it.

Vassarious starts searching with his detect, and starts picking up all sorts of creatures before he picks up the sphere.

• 18 skeletons in the sand of the nearest beach
• Some strange sort of elementals on the shore of the island
• Finally, the sphere of madness, what you were looking for. This is a standard DF creature from Monsters 1. Yes, you can assume its form.

When/how does she stop?

Vassarious will explain the creatures they sense to the group and try shaking Halcyone from the trance if they do not respond when spoken to.

Vassarious breaks Halcyone out of her trance. Its very easy, but takes a second. Of course, if it happened while on a beach being attacked by skeletons, it might be more serious.

Vassarious will explain the creatures they sense to the group

Haley: "That's convenient. We know about the skeletons and the sphere of madness. I don't know about the sea creatures and the elementals on the beach."

Arlon: "Bladed Arm beasts. Elder things. The pattern on the sand will miss with your mind. I don't know about the elementals on the beach. You're sure you didn't see anything Halcyone?"

Haley: "Halcyone, you wanted to check out the crank and the tower, right? which one first?"

Arlon: "And how is this place part of a 'larder'"

"Perhaps the lives of followers and supplicants, through the tests and traps provide sustenance for the elder touched and their dark masters. A larder of sanity and souls rather than pickles and meat."

"I was once holed up in a house for a month trying to fend off mercenaries. The front bedroom had most of its furniture scrapped for barricades and turned into a sniper's nest. We still called it the bedroom."

Arlon: "I don't know that worship through tests is what this polriket needs. Souls though... those statues look real. That could be the larder."


Haley: "'Enemies of Mystic Strength Shall Serve Me Longest and Most Terribly'. It says it above the statues. Is that a store of wizards who hate Polriket"


Arlon: "That's a fate I never thought I'd be up against."


Haley: "Lets get to the island then. Levitate me please?"


If no one objects, Arlon levitates her, and its time to go to the island. Halcyone is going to just swim? what form will V use?

I ask how much trouble it will be to levitate me too. I don't like the look of the lake monster.

Vassarious will use the Winged version of the Genesis form and fly across. Vassarious can give Hancyon a lift.

The group moves through the air, and lands on the island. They've seen it all before. Still no sign of whatever elementals are there.



Arlon: "so do we fight the sphere first, find the elementals, check out the statue, or look at the basin up top?"
