"Natural" Gadgets
Is there a way to apply a trait to a body part? I was thinking of using the Gadget modifiers, but I don't know if that would realistically make sense.
Main reason: A race I'm making has many advantages that only work because of a physical third eye. Closing it, blocking it, or breaking it stops the abilities. Any thoughts? |

Re: "Natural" Gadgets
Sounds like a Power Modifier, probably Biological -10%, on the abilities that having the 3rd eye grants.
Check 1st chapter of GURPS Powers. |

Rereading over that, it seems like it has a large counter measure of -10% (crippling eye cripples abilities). Is it that simple?

Could it also be Alternate Abilities? Cripple one, cripple the lot?

Sense-Based and Reverse Sense-Based will probably be needed.

I don't think you get a limitation just because an ability is linked to a body part. It's normal for an ability to be linked to a body part. Rather, it costs points to be exempt from such linkage, at least in some cases. See Injury Tolerance, or some of the versions of 360° Vision in GURPS Powers.

Re: "Natural" Gadgets
None of the abilities granted by Kromm's Undead Arm trait from Pyramid #3/01 have any discount for being granted by a specific body part. Granted, that's a replacement body part, not an additional body part, but I think it's still relevant.
In addition to using Sense-Based, Reversed, consider defining Afflictions and Innate Attacks as using the Innate Attack (Gaze) skill for attack rolls. |

Re: "Natural" Gadgets
Sense-based may work, except with 360-Degree Vision. The other thing about these traits is only the eye can use them. Here's the list:
360-Degree Vision Channeling Telescopic Vision They also have Enhanced Tracking, which I don't think would get the modifier. |

The hollow voice intones...
"I am created Shiva, the Destroyer; death, the shatterer of worlds. The dead night tiger made whole by the Master of Sinanju. Who is this dog meat that dares challenge me?" What, no death gaze? (Remo had a purple death gaze from a third eye he acquired after Shiva possessed him briefly.) How about See Invisible? |
