I switch back to my gun and take a turn to aim. They're, what, 10 m/yds away? I'll fire thrice at the uninjured guard's head (that'd be his face if facing towards me, skull if facing away [MA137 notes that penalty depends facing]):

No, They're 10 feet directly below you. The hatches are stacked, and you are looking down the top one and they have the ladder folded out and are standing on it.

Well, I guess mind control can't solve EVERY problem. Is the shooter disabled by the hit, or is he still up? If the former, Daymar is going to move closer. If the latter, then Daymar will take a shot at him.

He dropped his laser riffle and popped back below the deck.

Oh, well then that reduces the range penalty down to -2, so I scored two potential hits (and one miss)

Well, assuming skull hit and using a helmet, that's 12 points of damage. A face hit's probably worse.

He continues up to the hatch, keeping an eye out for any other attackers. If he gets a glimpse of one of the attackers he will either shoot (if it's far) or attempt Suggestion (if it's close).
