Default 'Till Death Do Us Part - a new solo by David Pulver

Till Death Do Us Part is another great solo adventure from David Pulver, coming to Kickstarter next week!

In it, the party is escorting a small group to deliver the promised future spouse to the altar in time for the wedding. It's a simple escort mission; surely nothing could go wrong.

Morgan Freeman: Things go wrong.

Till Death Do Us Part is a programmed adventure played using the In the Labyrinth rules from The Fantasy Trip (TFT).

You won’t need a GM ... but there are plenty of options to play with one if desired. Branching paragraphs direct you from encounter to encounter as you make choices. Three characters are provided: a knight, a mercenary soldier, and a ranger. All are 35 points, making them a bit tougher than the 32-points given to starting characters in the game.

This is the fourth solo adventure from David for Gaming Ballistic; he has written several others for Steve Jackson Games as well.

Initial playtesting and feedback have been VERY positive.

It's written. It's laid out. It has a cover, and I suspect all the art will be in commission in the next few days. While print fulfillment is always a toss-up, I expect (hah hah) that PDFs will be made promptly available.

Please follow the campaign to be notified on launch!

And we're off!!

The Till Death Do Us Part solo adventure Kickstarter is now LIVE!

So, here goes Gaming Ballistic’s first Kickstarter launch of 2022. In June. But hey, better Nate than Lever!

As we launch this, I’m excited for what comes. The adventure is really shaping up well, and some of the first art (counter pieces) has started to come in, so that’s going well. There seem to be a good number of people following the campaign, enough that some of you are probably new to Gaming Ballistic’s support of The Fantasy Trip (and SJGames’ products in general).

For those: Welcome! I’m thrilled to help expand the support universe for The Fantasy Trip, and this project is the sixteenth book published by Gaming Ballistic for the system. If you’re curious about my other TFT books, you can nip over to my web store’s TFT section, or even hit up Warehouse 23, as all of the products listed there also have a preview file, so you can see what’s in them.

So, if I'm following the description correctly, this adventure supplies all of the characters for PCs and NPCs? If so, does it work well for PCs of choice as opposed to those provided.

The adventure does supply PCs, so it's self-contained and playable right away.

It also says you can make PCs of your own, giving a number (2-4) and a point range for them.

I've seen some folks try and beat these solos with as few characters, of as low point value, as possible, which gives some replay value.

But really, if you want to bring your own PCs, it's entirely doable.

Cool. Most players that I know would prefer to bring in their own characters. However, having a canned set of characters may be a good way to introduce a new comer to adventures.

The adventure is tested against 2-4 heroes in 34-36 point range, all with a fairly normal range of talents for adventurers. Being able to ride a horse and having a woodsman in the party are both useful but not vital. Using your own existing heroes may make the adventure easier or harder depending on how their talents, gear, magic items (if any) and point totals stack up against specific encounters in the adventure itself, and the choices and routes you choose, but the adventure doesn't require any specific talents to "win" and it should be fun for any typical group of adventurers who could take on any reasonable labyrinth or wilderness quest.

The adventure is recommended for heroes rather than wizards simply because it's very hard for a solo adventure that covers more than simple dungeon crawling to handle the more complex spells a wizard can cast outside of combat. Thus, there is no provision in the adventure for "I sneak past the guards by turning us all invisible" or "I fool him by creating an illusion/glamour" or "I cast Long-Range Teleport to get us to the destination!" The full range of ITL magic - as opposed to the limited subset of spells in WIZARD - creates too many variables to cover in a short solo that isn't dedicated to wizardry.

However, that said, if you take a wizard and stick to using spells only in combats, or restrict your character to casting tactical spells like Blur, Stone Flesh, Slow Movement, Drop Weapon, Fireball, etc., it can certainly work.

New Add-ons! NPC Cards in PDF Format!

Gaming Ballistic is excited to announce three new add-ons, based on your requests for PDF versions of the Deck of Destiny cards that have been made available in physical form only from prior campaigns.

These PDFs will be formatted in 3.5 x 5" format - that is, scaled to 100% usual size - and show the "stats" side of the card.

How to Get Them

There are three ways to obtain these:

Add them Directly: For new pledges, you will see buttons to click to put the add-ons into your pledge. Click them and they're yours.

Money Now, Add in Backerkit: If you "plus-up" your pledge by enough money to add the add-ons, you will also be able to get these with a credit left-over once your pledge has been deducted. If you want the $18 PDF pledge and pledge $56, in backerkit you'll see a $38 credit...enough to add all three card packs.

Just Wait for Backerkit: You can, of course, add these as well as any of the other add-on content purely in the Backerkit phase of the project. That won't help the Kickstarter fund, but it will absolutely get you your stuff.

Manage Your Existing Pledge to Add

If you have already pledged and wish to add the new content directly, go into

Manage Your Pledge >> Change My Pledge

From there, you'll need to re-select your existing level (or choose a new one, of course), which will bring up the add-ons and buttons.

Without further ado...here are the new add-ons!

NPC Cards - Character Collections (PDF)
$15

These cards contain all 172 characters from the four Character Collections books, formatted to lay out on the table printed out when you need them. Populate a small mercenary squad, a rival adventuring party, or interesting individuals from the village the players are passing through simply by drawing a card: Each contains game stats and a snippet of background to make them interesting and unique.

NPC Cards - More Perilous Journeys
$15

This deck of 192 cards contains the sample PCs, NPCs, and monsters from the More Perilous Journeys project. This includes content from the five books produced during that campaign:
  • Dragon Hunt!
  • Dark Lord's Doom
  • Roc of Sages
  • Catacombs of Living Death
  • The Sunken Library

NPC Cards - Tower of the Moon and Till Death Do Us Part
$8

Wait, what?

Yeah...the purpose of the stretch goal is because of the labor and overhead involved in making the PHYSICAL cards (which will be available as an add-on if we pass that goal).

This is the PDF of the same content, including roughly 40 cards from Till Death Do Us Part and 20 more from Tower of the Moon. This PDF will be included for free with the purchase of the physical cards, should that goal be unlocked.

Very groovy that cards have been added! Should we change our pledge to reflect those add ons, or can we just wait till this thing goes to backerkit and tack them on then?
