"Right now, they've managed to keep themselves away for a bit," Chandra says. "They've both been suspended. One of their pranks finally went too far and caught the Commandant while she was visiting."

And I'd have been highly annoyed at losing two of my 'rescuers' like this if things with Hailey had turned out differently, she thinks to herself. Good heaven, but this place makes you appreciate alternatives.

"From what Gopal says, they always lie low for a bit after something goes wrong ... and I don't think they've ever had anything go this wrong," she adds. "Even when they come back, I doubt they'll be interested in probing mysteries for a while, especially when I let them know how ordinary you turned out to be and how humiliating it was to discover the truth."

She lets one corner of her mouth rise.

"If anything, it's me they won't let alone for a while," Chandra adds. "Can you imagine how many disgusting objects they're going to hold in front of me, asking 'What do you think Chandra? Wooooo! Is this a magic wand?' "

"I wasn't expecting any of this," Chandra answers. "But I'm glad as well. When I've got a plan for getting off world, how should I contact you? I don't want to draw undue attention to you -- but I do need to know how to help your people find me."

Haley: "Just come talk to me. That shouldn't arose any suspicions at all as long as you aren't nervous about it. You've been trying to talk to me for a while now. We both know where each other sleep."

"Fair enough -- just make sure you're talking to the right sleeper," Chandra reminds her, only half-teasing.

As she leaves, she reflects on two possible ways to get off world:

1) Find a way to dream herself off, maybe by trying to practice lucid dreaming and meditation. But to do that, she has to be able to reach a world where Hailey's people can find her. Risky.

2) Find a way to sneak off with the Spring Break crowd, when security will be most overwhelmed. For that, she needs a date, a destination and a rough idea of procedure ... much of which might be supplied by her friend Matthew if she approached him right.

Start with the books, she thinks. Find out more about jumpers and how they do what they do. And reassure Gopal, of course.

If she can manage to get some alone time with Matt, too ... well, that might be good on several levels.

The boys don't stay suspended for long, but when they get out, they are mostly concerned about how they got caught, and about developing 'payback'.

Chandra Morgan digs more into her research. The work is mostly about understanding existing world jumpers. Most have no abilities beyond being able to travel worlds. She sees a large variety in their methods, with very little about how they got their start. She suspects she can jump without sleeping, but this first jump just happened in her sleep because of her mental state. Or something like that. Meditation would probably help. Classes on that are in fact availiable -- and expected and useful for someone with her ethnicity. Though they seem to be less about meditation and more about how to present yourself as an expert on it. There is at least one real class though.

Gopal takes Morgan's word on the haley incident, but seems to be gaining more interest in the differences between the two. Why is one of them a world jumper? Why does Morgan 'sense things'. Do they really have identical DNA?

Matthew seems to warm up to Morgan. When she brings up spring break, he's willing to talk with her about it. Its on jonston's rome, a world of roman decedence that has oodles of outtime visitors. At least, that's were the break is most of the time. About one year in three its somewhere else. Matthew doesn't know if this is a different year or not. You sign up to go in a group (minimum of 4), and you are required to stay in that group. There really aren't any other formal limits. You're cadets, right? Its supposed to be a time to relax.

Matthew So: "Were ... were you think of asking me to be in your group?"

OOC: Since the two Chandras have been comparing schedules, Gopal likely knows of Morgan's friendship with Matt. Has Gopal interacted with him at all and if so, does she have any feelings of friendship or disdain? Also, has Gopal expressed any opinions about Spring Break -- whether she's looking forward to it or considers it a distraction from her studies that she could do without?

Gopal has gone out of her way to steer clear of Matt -- she thinks its dangerous for her to talk to him. She thinks Morgan is getting distracted but figures she doesn't really have a chance at graduating anyways.

She's looking forward to spring break, though she does hope for somewhere other than johnston's rome. She's made it clear if only one of them goes (quite likely) it will be her. The boys are beginning to fuss about ways to hide her when everyone is shipped off world.

How long is it until Spring Break?

EDIT: She's also going to encourage the boys to find a way to get both of them to Break and will try to think of a means herself ... It's their best chance of getting her off world, especially if they can keep her out of the records.
