"I was researching aerospace technology..." That much anyone could find out by looking me up on the Caltech website.

"I would expect to find cars and airplanes and TV dinners and parliamentary democracy. Not trolls and people mining with hand tools and feudalism. Trolls aren't even supposed to be real!" And now I sound like a madwoman...

"Parlimentary democracy? You know those terms? it thought you didn't know a thing about us. And Air-space... whats that?"

"Yes, where, or um, when I come from parliamentary democracy is quite common. All of Scotland, Wales, and England are united as one democratic state..." I go on to explain about the EU and the other countries in it, skipping potentially upsetting stuff like the UK's head of state being a queen, the world wars, etc.

If they press me about "air-space" I will try to explain that it is a highly specialised form of engineering "...like ship or bridge building..." and ask if they know about rockets.

Laura does press about 'air-space' and when asked about rockets, says "I believe they are an exotic art from the east."

Alchemical aristocracy? This must be some kind of alternate history or parallel timeline or something. But if such things are possible...the implications are...mind boggling.

"Well whatever the case this place is not like the Wales I have heard about or quite like the historical 1684 Wales I have read about so what I thought I knew about it is probably mostly irelavent." Except maybe to give me some context...

I look for a comfortable place to sit down.

If they are willing to entertain my questions (and are not looking impatient) I will ask:

"Who are the Alchemical Aristocracy? When and how did they come to power? How much land do they control? Do they they work with or against the Vatican or the Anglican Communion?"

"Who started Lorvism? What do you do as Saboteurs? How widespread is the rebellion?"

"What are augmentations? How do they work? How do you get them? Who invented them? What else can you do with alchemy?"

"What do you know about the New World? Who has setup colonies? How are they doing?"

Otherwise I will save my questions for later.
