Woman: "I am Laura Green of New Berkshire, Lorvian Rebel and Saboteur. This is my companion Kemmel. We seek to overthrow the feudal society in which we live and establish a Lorvian one in its place. We have a network of spies through out the western continent, and we have many hiding places. Most of them are around here though. "

Rebel and Saboteur!? Feudal society and Lorvian society... What have I landed in the middle of?

"Um...wow...it's a...pleasure to meet you. Oh, my name is Melissa Moon...of Sacramento, I'm a novice scholar I guess or engineer maybe. Do you really want to overthrow the nobility? Who are the Lorvian?"

"Who wouldn't want to overthrow them? Other than the nobility themselves of course. Stop the murders, the neglect, the starvation, and the wars. Power corrupts and the Nobility are corrupt to the core." Mellissa can tell she goes through this tirade often. "Lorvism stands against that. We can break free and end the ills of humanity. We can establish a society of equals..."

She goes on in that vein for a bit. Lorvism seems to be an egalitarian movement. It does seem naive though, and Mellisa is most strongly reminded of the early french revolution...

I'm all for taking down the feudal system but yikes!

"Taking down the feudal system?" What am I saying!? Do I actually believe that I am a time traveler now? One of many by the sounds of it...

I wait until she is done giving her speech.

Well it beats making pickaxe handles...

"That actually sounds like something I could get behind. Do you have a hiding spot nearby? Maybe we should just go there?"

"Could get behind." The Laura mimics. Kemmel snorts. "Yes, you sound like a nobel. This isn't something idle. Then again, for you, it might be that way. now.

" Yes, the inside hole is what we were talking about. Its inside the village, but we'll need to wait until everyone has left"

I make an apologetic expression.

"Yeah, sorry, to be honest we don't have a feudal system where I come from anymore. It's all a bit abstract to me." Though less so than for most, I guess.

When they tell me about the inside hole being in the village I nod and fidget with my cloak.

After the villiagers have mostly left, Mellisa and her new guides go into the village and find a trap door in a hut, being careful that no one can see them. They put her in a small hole, but they cannot fit, and they tell her to wait until they come back that night

"Try to get some sleep"

12 hours in a literal hole!?

"Okay, um...alright then...were there going to be clothes in here?"

I look around to see what all is in here.

I will try to settle in and probably try to get some sleep (it may be morning but I've been through a lot).

Maybe I should try to get a second opinion about this Lorvism thing...

The house itself has a straw mat and some cookware. The pit is just lined with straw, and the only way she'll be able to lie down is in the fetal position.

Is this some kind of loyalty test!? ... Some kind of intelligence test? I wonder what kind of diseases I'm going to get from the bugs that must live down here...

I shudder.

Well if I try to make contact with the villagers the least bad outcome I could expect would be them telling the Lorvians that I'm bad at following instructions. Maybe someone will come by with lunch in a few hours...or clothing.

I take off the cloak and lay it down to line the bottom of the hole then I curl up on top to try and get some sleep.
