[IC] Lost in Dreams [Graham]

Graham prepares to go with the leaving smiths, barring any orders to the contrary or anything.

Graham is leaving with other smiths when he senses the magical illusion again, This time on top of a hill overlooking the battle. The smiths are at the base of the hill.

Graham hesitates briefly, looking up at the top of the hill. He wants to just leave, but also...

Shrugging, he climbs up to stand next to whoever this is and look out over the battle.

{Slythanian}"...So which team are you rooting for?"

There is a quiet curse and more power is placed on the illusion, and the mage moves. When Graham keeps looking at him, the mage replies

"who are you?"

[momothefiddler]

"A smith, apparently."

He looks out over the battlefield.

"Would you rather I go? I can. I don't know how to be invisible and I can see how that might be an issue."

[ericthered]

"Don't play stupid. No mere smith could pierce my illusion that easily. Nor would a mere smith speak the holy tongue. Nor would a mere smith be doing anything but bowing down before a god."

[momothefiddler]

"A god? Hm."

Graham shrugs.

"I'm a traveller. When I showed up here, I was given the option of being a priest or a smith, but the head priest was a jerk and I don't much go in for religion anyway, so I picked smith. I'm not a very good smith. I was hoping to get better. The battle, of course, is preventing that. Speaking of which: again, which team are you cheering?"

(OOC: People are being hugely pretentious, and Graham's natural response is to rebel, but passive-aggressively, largely by acting apathetic and nonchalant. But A)he's not actually interested in dying, and B)I'm not looking to push so hard I disrupt the game, so let me know if I'm going too far and I'll reel him in.)

OCC: don't worry about derailing the game. As long as it makes sense for the character, derailments can actually be really fun. Remember, you are the party. But yes, fear of death is a good motivation. And finding a way to become free and stay alive at the same time is a great goal.

Mage: "I am the tyrant Assinar. This is my army and those priests serve me. I have built the clan from scratch. Be careful what you say. You are a traveller from where?"

[momothefiddler]

Graham shrugs.

"Other worlds. I don't even know the proper name of mine, but my first encounter with world-travel was waking up in Slythania. Batinar said he didn't know anything about there, but I s'pose you might. That's where I learned this 'holy tongue'. Is that, like, heaven? Or does there just happen to be a place where everyone chats in Celestial?"

"I can see why you chose to be a smith rather than a priest. But enough lies: where did you actually learn this tounge?"

Assinar speaks quite darkly, steps and graham's suroundings darken at the same time. Graham can tell its a magical effect, but its still quite intimidating: this creature is definitely an elf, and claims to be one of their tyrants. And has an army at his command, even if it is currently about to be routed.
