[IC] Lost in Dreams [Elijah]

The children of the dog tribe are quiet, and seem like they can't wait to have confirmed that you are indeed a member of the big head tribe. Stone puts on his most solem face, which is saying something.

The shaman chants, called upon the spirits of the sky, the trees, the fire mountain, the hills, the stars, the sun, the moon, the beasts, and who knows what else. It gets faster, and then the shaman stands up and bellows at you:

"Give me your name, and the name of your tribe, the true and full name of both!"

[Talosian]

Caught between a rock and a hard place, Elijah decides to be brutally honest. "My given name is Elijah, the name of my family is Wilder. My people do not form tribes like yours, the name I gave to Stone and Quick Foot is the name of the village I was born in. Lost as I was, I had thought it simpler to tell a small lie, than to explain the place that I came from, and for that, I apologize."

[ericthered]

"Elijah of the tribe of Wilder!" The Shamman bellows.

(some of the children stiffle snorts at the thought that the tribal name means "Wild")

"The spirits speak to us. They tell us who we are and what we are! Elijah! have you come from far lands? Would it take to long to tell us where or how?! Do you know the meaning of the word Show-vel?"

[Talosian]

"I think I came from far away, but I'm not sure. I don't know how I got here, or where exactly I am." Show-vel? What? Oh! Shovel! "Do you mean a shovel? It's a digging tool."

[ericthered]

Shaman's expression doesn't react to your answer, but he bellows:

"The Big Head has been revealed! Come from a land where the spirits are mute, speaking to axes that obey him, naming himself with strange sounds! Big Head, know you are a member of the Tribe of the Big Head! Hide not your nature behind strange sounds! Declare unto the spirits and the people your true tribe!"

The shaman ends with a thanks to all the spirits invoked at the start, seemingly in reverse order.

[Talosian]

Elijah sighs, and sits back, preparing to be hassled on a whole new level.

[ericthered]

Shaman shrinks back to a fairly mild old man almost immediately.

"Big Head, seeing one of your kind is an omen to us, whether you see it or not. We have been looking for such an omen from the fire mountain. Has he sent you?"

[Talosian]

I preferred it when they called me lost, Elijah thinks to himself. Mildly irked by the proceedings, he responds, "How should I know?" Immediately regretting his snappy response, he adds, "I honestly don't know. All I remember is waking up in a puddle yesterday morning."

[ericthered]

A ripple goes through the assembled members of the Dog Tribe, and Slays Beasts is particularly perplexed. He leans over to Stone and says something. Stone's face is inscrutable. Shaman holds up his hand, the murmuring stops.

"This is an interesting omen. What do you intend to do? "

[Talosian]

"Um. Well, I'd like to go home, but I don't know where that is, or where here is, so that doesn't seem to be on the table." Plus, I'm pretty sure there aren't dinosaurs on Earth anymore. "Short of being able to go home, I would hope to stay with your tribe. This land is unfamiliar to me, and I lack the skills to survive on it. Perhaps a clear omen shall appear later?"
