[IC] Lost in Dreams [Elijah]

"He really is a big head." Fast tongue laughs. "who else would not know what a fire mountain is?"

Stone's expression hardens, and you are left in no doubt where his name comes from "Shaman's been filling your head with tales. This is serious. Quick foot, run get Shaman and Kills Beasts. Fast tounge, tell your mother Lost is coming"

The two youths run off in different directions.

[Talosian]

Elijah looks at stone, confused, "What's going on? What is a fire mountain?"

[ericthered]

Stone looks hard at Fast tounge, and she hurries to do her assigned task.

Stone turns to look at "Lost"

"The fire mountain is one of the great spirits of the land. Its outward appearance is as you described, but it is much greater than that. The spirit pervades all of this land. More than any other, this land is his. You would do well not to flaunt this ignorance more. He does not take such things lightly"

[Talosian]

Elijah stares at Stone for a moment. "Um. Okay, then. I'll take your word for it." He shuffles awkwardly, then asks, "Is there any chance I could borrow some clothing?"

[ericthered]

"That would be best" Stone says dryly. "It will not do to present you to shaman exposed to the land"

Elijah followed Stone into the camp, where he meet stone's wife, and apparently, Quick tongue's mother. Eight children came out to see the 'big head', Quick tongue being the oldest. Another woman is scraping some sort of scaly hide: Sees Much.

Stones' wife is named small hands. She gives you a roasted root and some dried meat to eat, and the children surround you asking questions about talking axes. They also scrounged up a brown scaly skin and give it to him for a loin cloth.

[Talosian]

Elijah thanks Small Hands for the food, then promptly devours it, shifting slightly as he tries to get used to the rough loin cloth. He quickly gives up on convincing anyone that he isn't a Big-Head, and sits back to relax, trying to ignore the children.

(It occurred to me that I should confirm that Stone/Quick Foot still have the stuff Elijah handed over. I don't think it was ever said either way.)

Stone eventually shooed the children off to someplace else instucting quick tongue to make sure they aren't bothered. He gave Elijah the half length spear back. Small hands gives some instructions "when the shaman comes, you must pay attention to everything he says, and be careful not to offend the spirits."

Shaman came soon afterwards. Quick foot was in front, and right behind the man was a large, lithe man, armed with two spears and a stone axe. He wore a necklace of massive teeth and claws, all of various kinds, as well as a single giant feather.

Shaman is wearing layers upon layers of clay trinkets and stones. He has many bone piercings and his walking stick has many different items tied to it. The shaman was old and bent, his hair pure white. The Children made an appearance, standing silently in a line, corralled by stern looks from Fast tounge.

He looked at each child, then walked to Stone "Quick Foot says you have found a big head." The shawman looked at Elijah "He is missing many functions of the tales."

Stone nodded. "Yes he is shaman. But there are other signs than his ornaments. He gave us a tribe and name that were not words."

Shaman looked at Elijah "Let us eat before conducting such business. This may be from the fire mountain."

[Talosian]

Elijah remains silent as the shaman speaks with Stone, waiting until they finished, then nodding and saying, "Thank you for your hospitality."

Shaman and Slays Beasts eat, and the sun gets lower and lower. Sees Much's husband, throws far, comes home with a couple small reptiles. Its clear to see the others clearly have a great deal of respect not only for shaman, but also for Slays Beasts. While Slays beasts is respected though, its clear that Shaman is loved.

When the sun hits the horizon, Shaman calls you over and begins chanting:

As the others eat, Elijah watches the tribe members' body language, trying to gauge the general mood. When Shaman starts chanting, Elijah stays quiet, and tries to stay out of the way.
