Default ½D and non-damaging abilities

Is there an effect of ½D Range from the Ranged Enhancement on non-attack abilities that are Range Enhanced? If so what is it? (basically I am trying to find out if I need to increase the ½D range on non-attack abilities to have them retain potency to their maximum range but would love additional information.)

Do you have an example?

In some instances the resistance goes up but this may not be your case.

No Acc bonus.

Sure. Applying Ranged to Control. This removes the requirement to touch the target. Would the ½D affect the weight usable or not matter at all and thus be ignored?

I had pretty much concluded this myself. How does this factor into the question about ½D though? (Perhaps you mean that since there is no Acc bonus there is no ½D either?)

Note that this is a 3e rule that no longer applies in 4e.

Ok, then corollary to my original question: does Acc affect non-damaging abilities where Range just lets them work at range?

It affects anything that has an attack roll.

As far as 1/2D goes, I'd halve level or add a bonus to resistance as per Affliction.

The standard Ranged enhancement makes it function as a projectile or beam, and Acc affects the to-hit roll normally. If it functions more like a spell, you'll also want to add Malediction.
