My Problem!!

Hi there,
My partner and i have gotten into an argument over one of the cards in munchkin quest. The card was "monster repellant." I believe that monsters can only move one room away. My partner has taken it another way thinking that monsters can pertentually move up to 2 rooms away.
Can i get peoples help.

As I understand it is monsters can move one room away.
