GUAL is an "upgrade kit." If you don't want to rebuy your whole Munchkin collection -- and I wouldn't blame anyone for feeling that way! -- this set will give you replacements for the cards where the writing most significantly changed. (Quite a few cards changed in every expansion in ways that you can easily fix with a Sharpie; we didn't include those.) It also has a sheet summarizing the biggest rule changes (or clarifications).

We don't plan to keep this set in print forever -- in fact, right now we expect to sell through the first print run and that will be that. If demand turns out to be a lot higher than we expect, well, we can revisit that decision.

For information: just over half the cards in GUAL are from the fantasy sets, so that should give you an idea of how few cards really significantly changed in the non-fantasy Munchkins.

Okay, I possibly (probably) misunderstood the original post in the Illuminator. Does the GUAL Upgrade Kit cover only fantasy Munchkin, or are there cards to cover Star, Super, Impossible, et al?

Half the cards in GUAL from Fantasy, other half from Star, Super, etc...

Andrew, any chances we get a list of cards with small changes, so we can make the changes ourselves?

The majority of those changes fall into a couple of categories:

(a) Positive Monster Enhancers: change "+N to Level of Monster" to "+N to Monster." (We've been stealthily doing this already in a couple of places. We so sneaky!)

(b) Negative Monster Enhancers: in addition to removing "Level of," as above, also remove "(Minimum Level 1)" -- Level never changes, and combat strength can be negative.

(c) Wandering Monster (and similar cards): change "add their levels" to "add their combat strengths."

(d) Too many cards to name: clarify Level, capital L, which is the number on the monster's card or the munchkin's Level Counter; level, little l, which is one of the units that make up the Level; and combat strength, which is the total of your Level and all bonuses or penalties.

I'm very sure there are other small (or at least easy-to-implement) changes that aren't in GUAL that I've forgotten to list here. We'll try to keep a running tally.

I wasn't trying to be opaque there. You start at Level 1. If you reach Level 6 (capital L), you have gained five levels (lowercase l).

The card faces are colored to match the sets you already have: everything except classic fantasy is full-color, and the fantasy card faces are brown-and-parchment two-tone.
I don't understand this. Why aren't the fantasy cards too in color? I want that "fan-favorite" card (KOA) in color too!

Maybe this card returns ALSO in the 19th printing with a new (More balanced) mechanic?

See ya
