Default These Dreams go on, even when I open my eyes!

I have a question that I cannot satisfactorily answer myself so I’ve come to the group mind of the fora. In a current game I am trying to put together, one of the players has requested the ability to bring the stuff of Dreams (we are using GURPS Psionic Powers with the Dream Control power, and the Dreamworld as another plane of exsistance) into the real world, thus using certain Dream Control abilities there (in the real world). This has been partly inspired by the new Nightmare on Elm St movie… and it's 'microsleeps'; so how would I do this point wise? What sort of power format should I go for? A affliction, maybe a variation of Mana Enhancer, or perhaps a variation of Jumper (similar in nature to how stopping time could be treated from the GURPS Powers Designer Notes). This would basically allow the player to bypass the need to be in the Dream World to use stuff like Reshape Dreams or Control (Dream). I would rather not go the route of putting everyone to sleep in the area, but like I stated have the dreaming world show up in the waking world.

I’ve been up far longer than I should, but insomnia strikes when you sleep in strange places...I would really appreciate some help on this. As always thank you ahead of time to those who answer.

Mechanically, the only reason that Dream Control abilities can't be used except in dreams is the "Accessibility, Only on Sleepers, -20%" limitation. If the player pays points to remove that limitation (only 5 points for Reshape Dream), then they can use the ability on anybody.

Looking at Reshape Dream -- you'll probably want to remove the Melee Attack and Contact Agent limitations (perhaps replace them with some levels of Short-Range so that those far away can resist more easily). If you just remove the Accessibility on Reshape Dream, it will seem like a dream superimposed over reality (it's an illusion). A Link to a Telekinesis ability with Area Effect will cause real changes in the physical world, and adding the Stigmata enhancement will cause real damage (or you can just use the Linked TK to make actual attacks).

To just bring stuff from the Dream World to the real world, you can use Snatcher or a cross-world Jumper Affliction. munin's post shows how to modify the powers to work in the real world... but, conceptually, they would no longer be Dream Control. To be able to affect everyone in an area with those abilities you should either put them all to sleep, or transport them bodily to the Dream World.

Thanks for all who answered, I am thinking I might use a variation of Jumper w/Tunnel + Area of Effect, possibly as a Psi Technique for Control Dream or Dream Projection.

Either way, if any are interested I'll post it later when I have some more time. If anyone has any other ideas please post away.

Jumper is less appropriate than Snatcher, physical Modular Abilities, or summonable Allies; one way to combine them all is to buy the most expensive one with +300% as an Exclamation Point power (from SUPERS), then you can use that one and any combination of the others up to the same basic point value (without the +300%) at the same time.
