And if all the wealthy character is doing is staying in 'town' and selling the party's loot, that makes sense.

No, that'd entitle you to a 10% commision.

However, if I am going on a dangerous delve, helping out as my abilities allow (maybe not as good as a poor character could, but pulling my weight)...

The point I was making was that if you've spent 40 or 50 points on buying Wealthy, you're presumbly NOT pulling your weight.

...the extra money I make for selling your stuff at prices higher than you can sell it ... well, I might share some of the profit margin, but still. Only if I like the guy. Otherwise? My money. Don't like it? Sell your own stuff.

And if I go to some rich guy in town while allowing you only a half share of the loot because you're only worth a half share?

"I nuked things you couldn't handle with your sword and now I am expected to sell your junk at a higher price due to my connections (read: wealth advantage) without taking a cut? What am I, your slave? Sod off." (I play wizards, usually. Can you tell?)

"Well, if you're not going to use the one thing you're good at to help the party, we'll just get a
competent wizard instead of you."
[Please remember that I said that I could see things either way. Since you're arguing one way, I'm arguing the other, but I'm not being terribly serious.]
