Warhammer 40,000 is obviously a very cinematic setting and various cinematic rules may apply.
Bulletproof Nudity Not generally used, but Catachans and Sisters Repentia may have a perk which gives them access to the first level without the requirement for Attractive appearance. A similar rule may apply to people who go into battle in impractical costumes like priestly robes, or without their helmets... Cannon Fodder Highly appropriate for high powered characters facing off against lesser foes. In some stories the protagonists defeat dozens or even hundreds of minor opponents. The definition of what qualifies as 'cannon fodder' will of course vary depending on the PC's power level. Cinematic Explosions Totally inappropriate for the setting. Explosions in 40k are very lethal. Cinematic Knockback Totally appropriate. Even laser weapons cause knockback and some of the novels feature absolutely ridiculous knockbacks, like the Leman Russ tank being knocked back in Honour Guard and Eisenhorn sending a 400kg cyborg flying with a shot from his bolt pistol. Shotguns and bolt weapons may qualify for double knockback. Flesh Wounds Probably requires an extra option perk, since a lot of heroes seem to get badly hurt but there are a few instances in the ficton of people (notably Gaunt) getting minor wounds from fairly fearsome weapons. Infinite Ammunition Again, this is probably available with an extra option perk (or the Infinite Ammunition perk from Gun-Fu). Some heroes have to worry about ammunition, other don't. Space marines especially seem to carry very few spare magazines and get a lot more shots than you might expect from them. Melee Etiquette There does seem to be a bit of a dueling convention in some of the stories, although it's hardly as reliable as the standard Melee Etiquette rule. Maybe allow PCs to activate it with an appropriate reaction roll. TV Action Violence Totally inappropriate. 40k is a gore-happy killfest. Cinematic Advantages In the 40k universe advantages like Weapon Master, Trained by a Master, Gunslinger, Imbuement, Luck and Wild Talent should be widely available. Cinematic Skills, Perks and Techniques Pretty much every single one of these is available to somebody in the setting and a lot of them are quite widespread. Apparently the Tacticool perk also covers skulls, hooks, candles and religious symbols attached to your weapon. |
