I dunno, I don't know if the problem for me is races being Evil is less complex than "They need slaves", "They eat people", "Their Spider-Goddess wants HUMAN BLAWD!" or "They have always fought humans, why do you ask?" and thus somehow badwrongfuntoosimple.
I think the problem is more that the more specific less abstract reasons directly gives you some sort of scenario, while "They are in it for the Evulz" doesn't. Mindflayers want to eat people's brains. Orcs are barbarian raiders. Dark faeries want to steal your kids since they cannot have kids themselves. Of course, having specific races that are only "evil" in some way that doesn't let me play them means less races I get to play, which causes my inner munchkin to sulk, but that's different. :p Erik |
