I will say that I like the historical artwork too because it gives a better feel than the cartoony art of the other DF books. This type of book is what I believe DF should be about which is about searching through dungeons to find fabulous treasures that are interesting in and of themselves beyond mere combat power. Really good job!
The DF series has illustrations in it? I've barely noticed...

Sounds like overkill to me.

I think it's fine just to have sets of clothing, defined by quality level, colour, and maybe fabric except if that's already part of quality level, ruggedness or durability (this is needed at least if fabric is not defined clearly), and any special effects such as terrain- or darkness-based camouflage, warmt or bonus to Sex Appal skill rolls.

No Bane weapons in DF8? What's up with that?

Major design oversight...

So, basically, roll on the table until you hit a spell which the reserve can meaningfully power.
I got the second part for the Regenerating Reserve and I re-rolled and got Resist Lightning (always on) - which I like since it goes with the rolling clouds embellishment.

I hadn't seen the first part (since I haven't really read DF8 yet, I just dived straight in with the dice!) - in this case the item has no other Enchantments.

So I guess I would either ignore the Regenerating Reserve (or leave it there to power any future Enchantments placed on the item), or re-roll Resist Lightning (always on) for a different Enchantment which can use the Reserve, or just change the Resist Lightning to (cast)!

Thanks

That's the idea. Also, items don't have to be completely random. You came up with a pretty sweet item with the dice but you need one more enchantment that will work with the reserve. Pick one that goes with the theme (Walk on Air maybe).

Nice! GURPS does delving better than Delvers & Demons ever did.

It may also help towards the other thing you want DF to be, which is horror. Slapping the Corrupting, Distracting, Haunted, Lifebane, Spirit Trap, Toxic Aura, Troubled Sleep, and Voices curses on magic items will give them a distinctly creepy air.

Anyway, glad you liked it!

I'd go with the second, but the third is a good option. The first seems less than ideal because by default there's not a lot of in-play enchantment in DF, but if you've got enchanters-for-hire kicking around your DF campaign, that should work.

The item was an entirely random just to test out the rules - which worked just fine.
The obvious answer to fixing the mismatch of 2 bits is to roll again, which is fine - I'm not sure it would be reasonable to expect every last one of the trillions of possible combinations to work perfectly!

Some possible combinations are downright bizarre (say, a sofa liberally decorated with feathers in the image of a holy man and enchanted with Jump). As a long-time fan of Jack Vance, I'm totally OK with that, but it may prompt some rerolling on the part of many GMs.
