Default The Caster Gun (Outlaw Star)

What kind of damage does the Caster Gun from Outlaw Star do? Crushing with the Cosmic modifier? Corrosion with the Cosmic modifier?

I think it has a high "Costs Fatigue" Limitation on the higher damaging shells.

But, it is certainly a Unique Gadget in any event.

Depends in the shell being used. Frex, one of the shells (forgot the numbers) looked a lot like an implosion grenade effect or a vortex grenade effect from UT.

Personally, I'd draw up a list of ammo types, each with different effects and damage. As for actual damage numbers? I'd put it in the 6d range easily with a nice armor divisor or just straight up Cosmic modifier.

Also remember that casters seemed able to cancel out each others' effects.

The most powerful one was a mini black-hole.

Which is an Implosion warhead from UT for all practical purposes.

If using UT it's a 25mm single-shot grenade launcher with at least half of the warheads being techno-magic.

I'll have to actually watch the series again to find out what each shell does. So far, I haven't found an online resource that has consistently and comprehensively cataloged them.

I don't recall the series explaining ALL of them, but you should be able to find the ones used. The rest is up to your creativity :)

Thank you, AOTA! It's difficult locating obscure Geocities and Yahoo sites.

Edit: also, since the shells are half magic/half technology, do you think the mana level of an area would effect the weapon's power?

I suspect it will have half or a fourth effect, simply because corelations seem to either be linear or quadradic in nature. It's really up to the GM if there's any corelation at all, though. Aka, this is all BS that's up to you (I usually side with whatever makes it Fun).

No problem.

I'd run them that the local mana level wouldn't have any effect on them. Since to me it seems that is what they were designed for.
