Asking the question directly here:
Can a Djinn of Kronos track themselves and so break Cherubic (and Djinn?) attunements at will? Adding to this silliness: Cherubim of Jean can perform "summon cellphone" by thinking about themselves. Kronos', Michael's and Yves's can check to see if their vessel will be destroyed by mundane forces. Why don't Asmodeus' have the same power as Dominic's? Beleth's need put only one CP into Dream Walking. Kobal's gain essence by making fools of themselves.

Barefacedly, I'd say yes to most of these questions, though self-Resonance isn't necessarily a polite thing to do around other celestials....

As it happens, this one's explicitly spelled out in the rulebook. If no other suitable victims can be found, the demon can indeed make himself a target of mockery ... it's embarrassing, but he's still encouraging selfish feelings in the people around him, and thus serving the cause of Hell.
Which power do you mean? If you mean why is it that Dominic's get the ability to detect Discord, dissonance, or whatever (depending on Choir) while Asmodeus' just get convincing Roles, I can think of two reasons offhand: 1) Dominic's angels gain their perceptive abilities through listening to the true Symphony. Demons don't have that option. 2) Dominic's angels, from Heaven's perspective, mostly operate in the open as an "Internal Affairs" unit. Asmodeus' demons are more of a secret police who have to be able to disappear into the crowd. The abilities reflect the mission.

Ah, gotcha. I forgot you were talking about Djinn in particular.
The main reason is that for Djinn, it's no big deal -- they can already let a target come to harm so long as they don't do it themselves. Why can't Djinn of the Game do it themselves when a Cherub of Judgment can? Here's my theory: Dominic's Cherubim serve Judgment, so they can actually put aside their own preferences in the service of a larger justice. But Asmodeus's Djinn serve The Game, which is about playing by the rules, regardless of whether they're just or not. "The rules" say Djinn can't hurt the target of their own attunement ... so they don't. (Off hand, this may be yet another reason why Asmo's boys don't get special resonances ... that's not how "the rules" work!)

Sorry to reply to a dormant thread as I make my way backwards through forum eras ...
... but yes, there is a Song that does just this: The Celestial Song of Revulsion, described in Liber Canticorum, severs these and other attunements used for tracking. |
