Of course you cant win, but you need to feel like your winning.

This is not hair-splitting. I mean to make the case that while total victory is not possible, you need to feel as though your charachter is growing and making an impact in the world around them.

Your chacher growing in a positive way is point accumulation. Pick Up Advantages, Spells/Skills even money and gizmos. These may make you better at the things you already do, or it may give you new options/path to success/victory.

Your charchter growing in a negative way is a decrease in point values (loosing a hand/eye, being notoriously wanted etc). This isn't fundamentally bad, but, as dissads limit your choices, then so is your ability to affect the world limited.

The reciept of these abilities and Adventures is a character sheet and the currency is Points. Its a convenient metric by which to measure character progress and excellence, if not a terribly precise one.

This is not meant to imply that Kilopoint charachters are the end result of those pursuits, nor do they need to be. Without some increase in ability however, how are players to know that they are doing well, not as Role Players, but gamers in a general sense? How else can they feel like they are winning?

Moving the plot forward is great and is a reward in itself, but the Characters need to be able to move forward/grow also (as well as the players!).
