I don't allow Fortify to be cast on anything that doesn't have at least DR 1. If it has DR 1 or more then GURPS gives DX penalties for armor layering.

Well, the primary purpose of giant spider silk appeared to be 'you can wear this under armor for extra DR, yay!'
And one of the basic principles of DF is 'Magical stuff is always better!' So, 'Can I have Fortified Giant Spider Silk and Fortified Armor both?' seems to be a pretty immediate question for someone to think of, even if they arent trying to break the game |

I suppose I can see the reasoning for it not stacking for game balance. It does seem kind of absurd to go out and buy six t-shirts, enchant each with a single level of fortify, and get the same* protection as a steel corselet for a fraction of the cost and weight.
(*semi ablative in a way, but still... Close enough) I guess the distinction is wether Fortify makes the item tougher, or if it gives a magical aura/force-field of protection. The later is quite easy to explain as not stacking. |

Well, if its enchanted Giant Spider Silk its more than +2 DR
But it also has weight involved as well Could always put Lighten 1 on it as well (since it is also cheap), and, if you are able Fine makes it lighter Actually, I imagine Non Fine giant spider silk armor is rarer than Fine, since it costs only a bit more to make it Fine. Which makes a problem for PCs 'You have looted a set of Fine Giant Spider Silk Armor! Anyone a Size 3?' And the DF assumption was used armor originally came from rich nobles or such, who presumably like Fine armor |
