Ayake hasn't been seriously hit yet, which isn't surprising because it's almost impossible for 1-2 mooks to get through his defenses. So we don't really know how hard he is to keep down. I suspect he'll do fine.
It's hard to say exactly how combat effective he is. He took roof of the west tower all by himself, and destroyed a goblin wolf-rider patrol. Mrugnak, the gold standard in doom and destruction, struggled on the east tower, and wouldn't have been able to make it to the fight without Richard's flight spell. I think they're filling their roles: stealthy skirmisher and and heavy infantry, respectively, quite well. All the rolling is a bother, but Ayake's player tends to lay on the effects. It isn't always necessary. Richard is viable. He's definitely getting a boost because the PCs were fighting mostly weak minions at the gates: his spells aren't doing enough damage to deal directly with the ogres. Fortunately for him, the next set of fights involves relatively weak foes. Sadly, there's going to be lots and lots and lots. |
