Let me make it simple as I can: If you have to Run Away from it, even if the attempt is automatically successful because the Monster won't pursue you, the Monster wasn't friendly. Friendly Monsters are Monsters that will not fight you at all, and leave the combat because of your Race, Class or gender. The Amazon is the standard example. She will not fight female characters and therefore leaves the combat immediately.
