It can fire indefinitely as long as PPs are provided. Thus, the only way it can do that is if it has enough energy for the next shot accumulated in the pause between shots.

I wouldn't make that assumption. If Spaceships was fully compatible with standard Gurps it'd have 1 second turns or at least options for converting to 1 second turns. It doesn't

No, but without spending a while to charge up you couldn't fire it again. (and actually I had a preliminary charge-up period in mind, like on Yamato.)
