Default GURPS: Spaceship Control Room Question

If I'm building a SM+6 sized ship, kind of a large shuttle, but I want a ship with 5 control stations instead of 2, can I simply drop in extra Control Stations in other slots, and then assume that they make up a much large control room, and not that they are like 3 separate control stations?

I'd say so, but with Control Rooms you're getting more than just the control stations. You're also getting a computer core, sensors, and maneuvering thrusters.

While I haven't checked it, and there may be consequences I wouldn't be happy with, I'd be tempted to give second and subsequent control rooms twice the number of control stations, since they don't have to 'rebuy' all of that.

My own hack for extended bridge space is to use passenger seating and charge an extra 50k per seat converted to a control station. That way you're not re-buying any unwanted features.

I'd only pay full price for an extra control room if it was supposed to be a fully independent auxiliary control, like the secondary bridge on Honorverse warships. Even then it may be a bit much considering that supposedly includes a lightweight sensor array and attitude thruster system.

Could I just use passenger seats? The idea is two control stations at the helm, right behind those is a single seat (the captain's chair), and behind that are two more seats. They form kind of a diamond shape with a dot at the center.

Take a look at these pictures: http://www.ex-astris-scientia.org/ar...ntferengi2.jpg

Obviously it's a 'cramped' control station. And I can see the stations in the front seem to be 'actual' control stations. I just can't figure out if the one in the center can control anything or is the two behind it have proper stations.

Any ideas? =)

Ah, that's and excellent idea! Thank you! :D
