Here's an off-the-wall idea for you: The first GURPS Anime campaign setting is already in print, or in some cases out of print. It's called Transhuman Space. You could perfectly well adapt THS to an anime style. . . .

There's a huge amount of anime series that focus on a class or school, and plenty of them have weird abilities that may or may not be secret. In fact, most anime characters would most likely gravitate towards IOU once they're in the right age group. Banestorm only needs minor adjustments to fit in as well. IST only needs a slight push in power scales to fit in with many Shounen publications. |

Ghost in the Shell: Oh, it's like Transhuman space with extra cinematicness! Berserk: Once we get the rules for scaling weapons in LTC2, we will have everything (and you could simply use the rules in DF). Guin Saga: Again we have everything available Escaflowne: Build the mechs as allies, nothing else is needed Ruroni Kenshin: MA all the way. GURPS Japan for background/cultural information and so on. Oh, and they're all very different. Yeah, GURPS could use some anime-stile gameworlds, but again, interesting gameworlds of any sort are hard to write, and usually don't sell well. P.S.: If you like anime-flavoured action, gy all means grab Imbuements. Excellent stuff. |

IMO, anime is a medium – not a unified visual style, not a consistent set of tropes, and most definitely not a genre. As such, GURPS Anime would be like GURPS Comics, GURPS Movies, GURPS Novels, GURPS Television, etc., or for that matter GURPS Billboard Ads or GURPS Text Messages. I'm not sure it would make sense.
Most people who want GURPS Anime really want "advice on applying the individual tropes of specific anime I like in such a way that the implied genres are handled in a way that I find easy to visualize in the style I prefer while still using GURPS." That's not even a series. That's a life-long project to create an individualized 256-page guide for each and every anime fan.
