The anti-mana pylons were my first idea but I was trying to think of something different. I would imagine the dinosaurmen would use some sort of tech like that to keep their environment the way they want it. I think that having the pylons run on mana is a good idea too. I don't want the magical creatures to be useless, just have less power than the dinosaurs. The other possiblity is to have the dinosaurs evolve magic resistance so they are not easily enslaved by mind control or other disableing spells. What do you think?

OK, I thought you wanted to drive the magic critters out.
You don't have to worry about mind controlled dino's if you don't want. It could be as simply as saying, "Animal Control: Dinosaurs" hasn't been researched yet (as they aren't reptiles, birds, mammals etc.), Or that the part of the brain that those spells work on don't exist in these prehistoric creatures, so such research is impossible to research as a variation and would require it's own field of study... Or you could say that Dino's themselves are inherently unmagical and part of the dino template includes mana damper... if it's enough so that they themselves are no mana, magic or direct magical abilities of magic critters and spell casters don't work on em... |
