Default Re: Review of Play: The Saga of the Westmarch DF Game

Session 47
http://westmarchsaga.wikia.com/wiki/...ouded_Valley/3

The delvers assault the walls! 5 against 40!

Archery is pretty weak in DF, especially against high powered adventurers. Richard got nailed by some lucky shots (and learned why he shouldn't have bought his HP down to 10), but everyone else pretty much spent some fatigue for improved dodge or ignored them. Team Monster just doesn't have the density of attacks to exhaust the PCs that way. Though fighting an entire army would be problematic.

I realize in writing this up that I intended for the towers themselves to be shrouded in dim light, which would have made things slightly more difficult for the delvers. I'll remember it next session, I suppose.

Two issues that came up that we never really addressed:
1) Position changes while flying. Do these matter? Can they be done for free?
2) Retreats while flying. B398 says that a Flying Retreat gets an additional +1 defense if the flyer can afford to lose altitude. It doesn't indicate whether that changes the basic restriction that only a Dodge and Drop is effective against ranged attacks. I ruled that it didn't but we'll have to see what happens.
