Default Evil Twin and Sock Puppet combo

We have a dispute over the combination of Evil Twin (Munchkin Bites) and Sock Puppet. The Sock Puppet does not allow cards to be played on the Sock Puppet to increase the level of the Sock Puppet. Evil Twin creates a monster with the same level and bonuses of another monster.

Would using Evil Twin on Sock Puppet create another Sock Puppet (which does not allow cards to be played that can increase its level) or would it simply be another level 1 monster which can have cards played on it to give it a combat bonus?

It creates another Sock Puppet that does not allow cards for or against it to be played onto.

Last night there was one of those classic whining fights that ensued over my victory kill. It was a Booty-Blender-Impossible game that I won by "looking for trouble" with a sock puppet.
The Sock Puppet reads
"No one may play cards from their hand to fight or aid the sock puppet"

someone tried to play the "of love" card, which to avoid retyping a huge card, would have led to me gaining treasure only.

We were divided, because it seems the intent of the Sock Puppet card is to say that you can't do anything to influence the fight... it's essentially an auto-kill (unless you are lvl 1 non-warrior with no bonuses). However, the "of love" card neither helped fight or aid the sock puppet. So, would it have been legal to make it a "Sock Puppet of Love"? Or was that an illegal move?
Myself, being the owner of the game, declared it illegal. But I'd like to have clarification for future games.

Well, another option is that the Sock Puppet can make for a defeat, too. Say Player A is up against the Plutonium Dragon and can't beat it with his in-play bonuses as is, but could play some one-shot Item cards from his hand to give himself bonuses enough to win. Add the Sock Puppet, and suddenly the guy in combat can't do that because that would be playing cards from his hand to fight the Sock Puppet as well.

As it stands, the point of the rule is that since the Monster is a sock puppet, it requires someone's hand to make it something more than a sock with some creative artistic talent added in. Playing cards from the hand, for or against the Sock Puppet directly is what is therefore supposed to be prevented. A Wandering Monster is a different story, but I think that ... Of Love, since it can only be played when there is one Monster, would directly affect the Sock Puppet, and that is what is not allowed.
