I wanted to flag my enthusiasm for seing some revised/extended Heavy Gear material for the Caprice setting.
Obviously Terra-Nova material will most likely be first, but if SJG wanted to get some Caprice material (a revised overview book maybe) out in the early days I would be keen to get hold of it. Any other Caprice fans out there? |

Lesse: Caprice Book One: Corporate Caprice Book Two: Liberati Colony Book One: Life on Caprice Colony Book Two: Life on Utopia Colony Book Three: Life on Atlantis Colony Book Four: Life on Eden There were as many books for Caprice as there were for all the other worlds. Arguably, we also have Earth Book One: Colonial. But, that's not a colony book in any sense of the word ;-). Have I mentioned that I love Heavy Gear and have all the books? :-) And, in some cases, multiple copies? |

Of the "settings" books I have the three Caprice books, the Utopia book and the United Mercantile federation. I was tempted to get more but by the time I "discovered" the game it was already a dead franchise.
I felt all the setting books had alot of potential just in their "fluff content". Personally I see the strength of the franchise being in the setting material, not in the core mechanic ruleset (which are still very good) or the fighting mecho-bots (which is good fun). |

I agree with FatAlibert here...aside from the big dog in the park (CBT; Classic BattleTech), DP9's Heavy Gear was the most developed, thought out, and well-written Mecha Sci-Fi RPG out here in the western hemisphere. I own darn-near every HG product published, and believe me, they've all been worth it...even with the errors and problems that hit later editions of the game, it's still is one of the best settings out there, with awesome art and a truly epic storyline.
Caprice should definetely get some love in the new editions, as well as the other colonies...I would love to see the Colony Omnibuses that DP9 was talking about eventually come to fruition in this new line, but I'll wait and see what comes...who knows, maybe they have stuff in mind that is going to knock our socks off...^_^
