The faery as a race are immortal. They are able to come into the mortal realm only during limited times and often only through faery hedges at night. Some faeries who stay and manage to have children in the mortal realm have children who are mortal. When these faeries die they will return to the faery realm.
Mortal faeries are much less magical than the immortal ones. But they do not require mana to live and they have no restriction on time in the mortal realm. Elves are mortal but yet still have strong faery blood, so they live very long, as do dwarves, and gnomes. Halflings, centaurs, and merfolk are examples of mortal faeries whose faery blood is less strong so they die at a more normal rate and are far less magical. Of the evil mortal faeries, the shadow elves, boggarts, ghouls, ghasts and dark dwarves have strong faery blood and live for longer periods and their magic is stronger as well. The orcs, trolls, goblins, hobgoblins, corpse-eaters, bugbears have weaker faery blood and do not live extremely long lives or have powerful magic. Nymphs, leprechauns, pixies, and fauns are faeries who live in between worlds. They are highly magical and require mana to live and they can often live forever if they choose. They can however be slain in the mortal realm; only to be reborn in the faery realm. Mortal faeries get along well with immortal faeries as long as they are in the same court. Faery goblins will freely associate with mortal goblins as will faery elves and mortal elves. Faery elves and mortal goblins will not get along however. Faery blood is very strong and sometimes even mortal faeries will have some innate powers from their immortal ancestry. Sometimes a faery goblin will be able to poison food just by willing it or even be able to turn himself invisable to work mischief. |
