How much of the rules for books & casting from spellbooks are from DF4 are directly from full GURPS and how much are immediate dirivitaves. (Or shades of upcoming Thaumotology?)
Of the stuff that isn't, how much damage would it do to a serious mid-fantasy campaign to use that part of DF4? RH

I made up a lot of this stuff for kicks, although the basic rules for using scrolls essentially came from Magic. I didn't merely write down random crap, though. Of the four DF items so far, Sages would probably be the safest in a non-dungeon game. The gear, in particular, isn't especially powerful. I erred a little on the weak side to keep scrolls, etc., from replacing casters; in effect, DF's hangup with niche protection largely ensures that this stuff isn't as "over the top" as some stuff in the series.

I don't know of rules as such existing and I don't see HUGE problems grafting them in, but since someone else somewhere may be wondering the same, I figured I may as well ask. One of the things that the DF series has added to my (semi-)serious fantasy campaign is to remind us to not take things too (semi-)seriously, after all it is just FM! (Froggin Magic!) I just didn't want to rush off in a total euphoria. RH
